David Ndii Biography

David Ndii was born in Kiambu, Kenya. He is an economist, columnist and author. The Telegraph has described him as “one of Africa’s best known economists and an outspoken anti-corruption crusader”.

For several years, he was chief strategist of the National Super Alliance.

In recent years he has been an open critic of the economic policy of the Uhuru Kenyatta administration, writing several open letters and tweets criticising the government’s economic policies and borrowing of loans. 

This, among other things, led to him being barred from accessing the Technical University of Mombasa for “security reasons”.

This resulted in him supporting the presidency of. He subsequently was involved in the crafting of the Kenya Kwanza manifesto which was anchored on the Bottom-up economic agenda.

He was the Chairman of the board of Zimele and the managing director of African Economics.

David Ndii is a popular Kenyan author, journalist and economist. He was born in Kiambu, the capital of the Kiambu County, Kenya. 

He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Nairobi before travelling to the United Kingdom, where he obtained a PhD. from the prestigious Oxford University.

David Ndii Career

David Ndii has served as NASA Strategist, Economic advisor to the President of Rwanda, Chief economist for Equity Bank, an Economist with the World Bank, and taught at the University of Nairobi. He also co-founded the Institute of Economic Affairs.

He advised the NARC administration on the Economic Recovery Strategy (ERS) credited with the post 2003 recovery of the Kenyan economy. He has also previously served as  a Technical advisor on Public finance to the Committee of Experts.

David currently serves as the Managing Director of Africa Economics. He also writes a column for the Saturday Nation.
