Godwin Emefiele replaces Ovia at Zenith Bank

Godwin Emefiele, the Deputy Managing Director Zenith Bank Plc has been appointed the new Group Managing Director for the bank, in replacement of Jim Ovia, who has occupied that position since 1990.

His appointment follows a crucial meeting of the executive committee and the board of directors on Monday (today) to decide on Mr Ovia’s successor, in line with the new CBN directive on banks CEOs’ tenure.

Although Zenith is yet to officially confirm Mr Emefiele’s appointment, sources privy to the meeting confirmed to NEXT that “his appointment did not come as a surprise.”
